Factory Reset – Factory reset of Samsung tablet is usually done to remove the entire data associated with it. Hence, the device would require the re-installation of all software thereafter. It makes the device function like it’s is brand new. Factory reset is usually carried out when the device is not performing as it should be. If you find your Samsung tablet in situations like screen hang, slow charging, and screen freeze due to unknown and unverified software installations, it is recommended to hard reset (factory restore) your device. Note: After hard Reset, all the data associated with the device gets deleted. Therefore, it is recommended to back up all the files before you undergo a reset.
Method 1: Hard Reset Using System Settings
Here is how to hard reset the Samsung tablet in case if you’re facing any issues:
- Tap the Home button and go to Apps.
- Select Settings and navigate to General Management.
- Look for the Backup and Reset or just the Reset option, and then tap on it.
- Tap on Factory data reset. Again tap on the Reset button to confirm.
- Enter your screen lock pin or pattern when prompted for it and tap on continue.
- Finally, tap on the “Delete all” button to continue with the factory reset. Once you complete all these steps, your Samsung tablet will undergo a hard Reset. After that, it will wipe the device and restart automatically after the reset is done.
Method 2: Factory Reset Using Android Recovery
A Samsung tablet hard reset is usually carried out when settings need to be altered due to improper functioning of the device. It deletes all the memory stored in the hardware and, thereafter, updates it with the latest version of its Operating System. Here are the steps on how to factory reset your Samsung Tablet using the Android Recovery menu:
Press the Power button and hold it for some time. This will switch OFF the Samsung tablet.
Now press the Volume up + Home buttons and hold them together for some time.
Continue step 2 and now, start holding the power button. Wait for the Samsung logo to appear on the screen. Once it appears, release all the buttons.
On doing all the steps, the Android Recovery screen will appear.
In the Android Recovery menu, navigate to Wipe data/factory reset and select it. Note: On few devices, the Android Recovery doesn’t support touch and in such case, use the volume buttons to navigate around and the power button to select your choice.
